TempGuard is a truly world-class, patented heat resistant and heat dissipating paste product, developed to prevent damage from intense heat sources up to 3000ºC. It provides essential protection from harm to the hands as well as the jewellery piece being repaired by the extremely high temperatures produced by torches, stopping the transfer of heat from the working area to surrounding localities.
Applying TempGuard to existing gems and other inlays within their settings eliminates the time, expense and risks associated with removing stones such as opals, emeralds, tanzanite, topaz, sapphire and citrine which are typically prone to crack or shatter when exposed to high temperatures. Soldering can also destroy any adhesives securing a stone in place. It is also useful when soldering near multiple joints where the heat from soldering might affect an earlier join, for intricate silver assembly and for working on antique jewellery or near clasps that contain stainless steel springs.
Acting as a heat sink, as it is able to absorb and dissipate intense heat and prevents heat creep within a material, insulating and shielding almost anything while remaining stable in its protective function. The paste comes ready-to-use straight out of the tub and is easy to apply. It is non-toxic, emits no objectionable fumes or odours, is water soluble and environmentally friendly, and contains no asbestos – making it perfectly safe to apply directly to the skin.

HOW TO USE TEMPGUARD
It couldn’t be easier!
- Smear an even thickness of TempGuard paste onto the material or area that requires protection, ensuring that no cavities or voids remain where heat can accumulate.
- Expose to heat
- Let the item cool and then simply wipe off the paste, or wash the item in water
- Scoop any excess gel back into the pot, discarding any dried up or burnt paste
For extended use, the paste must be stored in an airtight environment, so make sure to screw the lid on tightly after you’re finished working with it.
